If you're asking because you wish to host a Halo Server, then go ahead and do so.
You don't need us to tell you what you can and can't do.
Anyways, I think there is nothing wrong with a Halo server. I don't believe you have all the weapons for one, but there are some pretty amazing ones allready made, and other weapons would easily fill the spot.
The main con to a Halo Server I guess, is probably just the players you'll have joining. Don't be surprised if you get a large ammount of players joining with any combination of the words "Spartan", "Master", "Chief", "117", "Arbiter" or "ODST" in their name/clan tags. Generally, that isn't a problem (Personally I know a fair few good players whose names are most likely derived from the Halo Franchise) but again, don't be surprised to have a few immature/young players who don't fully keep to your rules.
Everyone hates halo and stuff and thinks bungie should go die, but when a team fortress 2 or half life 2 weapon is released you're all like "yayayayayayayayayayayayayayay ayayayayayayyaayay waaaay better then haaalo"
I agree with this to an extent, but often people are against Halo Weapons mainly due to a dislike of the Halo Community. On the other-hand, the "Valve Community" is stronger in these Forums and has been for a long time, so an unfortuante bias towards Valve game weapons/ideas isn't unlikely. It's probably nicer to just stay un-biased and enjoy both Halo and Valve games. It's the best of both worlds, really.
Because, all Halo weapons are the same, theres like no difference. However, in TF2... Weapons get special abilities and stuff like the Disguise Kit. And in HL2? I don't have to say [ abbr=HL2 > Halo]it.[/ abbr]
If anything, I'd say that the Halo games give you a rather nice wide variety of weaponry. They're not all the same gun with a different paint-job at all. To be honest, most of the weapons seem the same to you because they're Generic. Most games have Generic weapons. Even TF2.
Shotgun, Pistols, SMG's, Rocket Launcher, Flame Thrower... Tonnes of games have these sort of weapons. It's not like Halo is the only one, so you can't use it's weapons against it.
If anything, Halo has some rather inventive weapons. (Spikey Rounds that Track, Stab and explode, Shotgun style Pistols, Laser Cannon, Bubble Shields, etc...) And yes, I know some of those are used in other games too, but even so, they're used more uniquiely in Halo, IMO.
@Bolded; This is just another case of the aforementioned bias towards Halo from a, "Valve-orientated" view.
Get ti into your overly thick skull. No one really wants a loving halo server. This is blockland. If you like halo so much then go play it.
Piss off if you're just going to be a richard about things like that. If you don't like the idea of a Halo Server, then don't go to one yourself. You shouldn't feel the need to concern yourself at all with one if you don't like it. Also, "No one" is a very, very broad statement. I for one would like to see some good well made Halo Servers. Heck, even a poorly crafted one would suit me fine. So next time you wish to trash someones opinions and use everyone against them, go around and ask everyone what they want. Don't just pull stuff from your arse and attempt to attack someone with it.
