Author Topic: Sudden "Lag Crash"?  (Read 1641 times)

When I enter an online game, Blockland does some kind of weird what I call "Lag Crash".

It lags for about 10 seconds, then the chat begins to work normally, but the 3D models, bricks, movement, etc. will just freeze.
[Single-Player, and LAN works fine.]

Is this an ISP problem, my computer's fault, or is it Blockland?

PLEASE HELP

Need more details, maybe a console log and what OS you're running?

Are you able to talk during the crash, or can you just see everyone else talking still?

Iv'e had this before so:
No, you cant chat by yourself.
You see the other chat, but you can't see anyone move.

This "lag crash" is really annoying, it happened to me when i was on cucumberdude's co-op challenge. :C

This is a known issue and as such I don't think a solution has been found. I have noticed this is quite easily replicable if you have something using up a lot of your upload bandwidth (e.g. maybe you're seeding a torrent)

2 solutions.

1. Reconnect.

2. IRC an admin and ask them to D-Wand you, this will fix the lag.

I don't have the console log, since I played single player for a few hours yesterday.

Right now I'm in Ubuntu 9.10... *sigh* v14 better have linux support. D:

Yes, I can see other people's chat, but I cannot chat.

@MtnDew
Windows XP Professional SP2 w/ Ubuntu 9.10 as guest OS [Blockland DOES NOT work in Wine for me]
1GB RAM
EVGA GeForce 8600GT PCI 512MB VRAM
Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz.

Oh, when I run my server, everyone can connect to it for about 5 minutes, and then everyone but me and everyone in the same house crashes.
IRC in RTB also glitches when this happens.

I forgot to say:
I don't use torrents except when I download files over 500MB that have a torrent. [I wasnt downloading a torrrent at the time.]
When I'm the only computer/internet connection on the router, it still happens.
I tried restarting my computer, still does it.

On BOTH WiFi AND wired connections, it still happens.

My brother's computer is also doing this. We can only play Single-Player and LAN servers.

I guess I could try playing Badspot's server without addons in Linux, and I'll see if that works.

What happens with the IRC when this glitch occurs?

We're fairly sure this isn't an add-on related issue but more a networking problem within the game itself.

It disconnects, but if I'm not in the IRC Client's window, it shows a [Dissconnect (My IP)].

It's playing 90% [Sorta slower, but what do you expect. :P] in Linux.

I cant play Blockland in my Windows partiton, becuase of the amount of Add-Ons in it. My Linux [Windows Version w/ Wine] Blockland has no addons in it.

Edit to last post:
It's playing fine with 65,000 bricks at Badspot's Server. My sound doesn't work though. D:

This happens to me sometimes where there is heavy lag but then ppl are talking but i cant move or nothing.

So that just means it's Torque's fault... I never expected that.
I'll try my backup Blockland. I'll post if it works or not
