Some models of router-modems that Verizon provides don't require you to set up a static IP, meaning you don't have to do Step 3 on the port forwarding tutorial.

To set it up, click the "Firewall Settings" button on the router page. It'll ask if you are sure and any changes you make can harm your router or whatever, just say yes. If you do it wrong the worst that'll happen is that it just won't work still like before.

Click the button on the side that says Port Forwarding.
Assuming you have the same model as I do/same firmware, click the drop down list in the middle that says "IP Address forward to", and click your computer's name. Then click "Application list" next to it and click "custom ports". Click "Both" for TCP or UDP, and then type in 28000-28030. Click apply. Bam. You're done.

The router-modem will automatically forward ports 28000-28030 to your computer and your computer only, without having to set up a static IP.

if i had the forward port set up with 28000--> 28000 and not 28000--> 28030 with that pose a problem or even be the problem?

No, 28000 through 28000 is what it's supposed to be.

mabey its different for Verizon
oh and i dont think ares r the same because i dont have a dropdown list in the middle of my screen

For every port forwarded, thats one person.

If you have 28000-28000 then you're probably only going to get one person able to join. I just do 28000-28030 because thats how it's always worked.

Ports are ports. They don't change from router to router.
