How do you make maps?

Torque Constructor, it's free, and much better than SketchUp.

Also, here is a mapping tutorial, although the tutorial does not use Torque Constructor, it uses Mission Editor. However you should still be able to get some pointers from it.

Oh, my bad, you have to make an account with GarageGames, they'll send you a key in an email. Copy and paste it into Torque Constructor.
