Author Topic: WTH is wrong with my CPU?  (Read 538 times)

I haven't done anything as far as changing the clock speed, so the fact that's it's underclocked by ~1300MH/z is alarming.

Anybody know what could cause this?

A lot of BIOSs underclock the CPU when it's idle. Launch a program, and watch it jump.

It's running at a lower speed to save battery power (Intel SpeedStep).
Change to "High Performance" or "Balanced".

Ok it's fine. I was just a little worried because it was never like that before.
And I have my power plan set for high performance, so yeah.

Yes it was, you just never noticed.

No it really wasn't. I have the Asus Direct Console 2.0 which has a small amount of overclocking potential(~300MH/z) and I a while back I would check the difference with CPU-Z and default would always set it back to 2.13GH/z, even when I wasn't running any programs.

Anyways, it's fine.
