Really, until I see some quailty samples, I'm having to somewhat agree with Pandan. Unless you can impress someone, I guarantee you won't make it anywhere.
Also, why are you wasting your time on an IM Client? There are so many successful ones used by millions or even billions that already exists. Who's going to stop using one for one that's maybe and most likely less superior than the one they already are using? An budgeting program though, I'd like to see you top something like PeachTree.

About the chat client, yeah, we've realized that, but we're doing everything we can to make it impressive. We're most likely going to offer it for free anyway, for the exact reason that you stated. Also, I think you may be misinterpreting what I mean when I say "budget program," I mean an actual computer application that aids in managing a financial account. There's no way in hell we'd be able to even come close to something like PeachTree.
