Late 2008 early 2009. They had servers up in the beginning of January, the last post in the MotE topic was on February 26, 2009.

USSR died around the same time.

I disagree. I don't think any current (active) clan is a "worthy replacement" for MotE and/or USSR. I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not, but this is just my opinion.
