Author Topic: Model as a brick?  (Read 1515 times)

Let's say I have made a custom tree model. Now I want it in game as a brick. How do I know what size is one brick so I can scale the model? Anything special needed?

How to make parts of the model colorable with Spray Can?

Is it possible to apply special effects like chrome or glow to the model? How?

Any guides on exporting .dts with Blender?

I use Blender as my main modeling program but I have MilkShape as well.

Only if the brick is a .blb

Download DTS Exporter here

I have the exporter, but what settings to use?

I guess you export it like anything else.

But no animations.

Well i guess if you create that "empty" thing from the menu so you know how big it is, so you scale it down to about that size. Remember that on weapons the handle must be about 3 squares high to fit in the hand...
So you would probably have to make it 20-30 squares high(maybe alot more :P) and bout 20 wide.
I might be completely wrong so try experimenting :P

Why are you making bricks using DTS models?

If this is gonna end up like the Prop Mod, these things cause inefficient rendering, and at a certain amount, cause lag.

Why are you making bricks using DTS models?
Because it's the only way to display a model as a brick? JVS add-ons do it and Blockland.. and everyone else.

I will be sending any add-on you try to submit with DTS shapes posing as bricks to the fail bin.

JVS?

JVS Content is animated and provides an interactive aspect to builds. A tree is not going to be interactive and it'll be used pretty heavily too which is just going to destroy all the optimisation of the fx bricks.

Just learn to math and make it using the highly optimised blb system.

But I still need to use .dts shapes. Anyway, that "highly optimised blb system" will never happen because I can't script for stuff. Moving on.

Didn't help me at all, it doesn't have any info about models as bricks.
