Actually, you can quite easily tell if somebody is gay or not if you know what to look for. It's called Gaydar.

At any rate, how would somebody be able to tell such a thing before somebody would have been able to make any decision on the matter? Say, like age 6.
Yeah, because a thing actually exists. Not.

A good way to find out why is to simply ask them. 90% of the time it's due to some form of abuse, drama, peer pressure, or experimenting as a kid. in one rare answer, a person learned that she was actually a male when she was born but her parents wanted a girl and gave her a love change. Was that unethical? Oh you bet. Did it explain why she was gay? Definitely. Was it anything related to genetics? Not in the least bit.

Secondly a 6 year old is not recognized as being capable of making well informed choices about themselves or about anything in their environment. They can say they're gay, but never know what it really means until they're older. They only assume so because calling someone gay is a universal insult and some people take it seriously.

the human genome wasn't nearly as big and complicated as was thought for a long time.
they are understanding all the chromosomes pretty well now.

the real study is about how to use them for medical science. not WHAT they all are. thats been covered.
there is a gay gene. but all genes cover about 20 aspects of your body and brain (each)
so its not an issue of having one thing turned on or off to make it so simple. it can change many many things to differ people.

lol

I'm betting you haven't talked to many gay people.

Many couples live in my building, and they would be insulted by that paragraph.

it's still a decision.

It's really easy for a closed minded person to assume it's a decision when they are straight, they would just think to themselves that the only way they would be with a member of the same love is by choice, because they don't feel that way naturally.

You can't assume that it is a choice unless you were gay yourself, then of course you would know it isn't a choice.
Stating things you assume to be true without knowing the facts is called ignorance.

Holy stuff.

I wish you could make someone homoloveual for a day so they would understand that it's not a choice.

I'd say homoloveuality was part environmental/upbringing and part genetic.
I don't know, the only people who know for sure are members of the gay community.

  :cookieMonster:

I was brought with this statement a few years ago:
"Being gay is a higher attraction for love"

Have you actually done any research? Are you a funded scientist? Can you map the genome of a gay man and compare it to others?
I don't see any of the so called evidence you claim to blatantly believe without doing some research yourself in the thread at all. Like you're one to talk. lol "Herp, skeiinzz sez so, so et muz be trew!"
lol

I've talked to all of my gay friends about this subject at one time or another and none of them claim it's because of genetics. They made the choice and they acted on that choice. That's empirical evidence enough for me. Straight (or should I say not straight) from the source. As for your couples in the building, what would I care about insulting them? They're gay, they're happy, big whoop. I wouldn't be the first one to trample on any of their norms or values.

Way to take a stand Ephi! lol

i think ephi implies that gay people live on boats :D

strange connection, but it could be true

Is there a parrot in here? I just said they wouldn't be able to make a choice on the matter. That doesn't mean they aren't gay, because it isn't a choice.

You're assuming I can tell people are gay or not by running up to them and asking them? So people who decide to be gay can also magically change their voice, interests, and friends around that single choice? Seriously?

And this topic is filling quite fast now. I know gays may not burn in hell (I was just kidding) but they still disturb me. It was not how the human body was intended to function loveually and yet they still find ways to have love with each other. I am also disturbed when I went to this fancy San Antonio Holiday Inn and they had a Cafe' and this waiter had all of the Gay stereotypes but I was not sure if he was gay. Also I hate when Gays go to a normal Christain church and demand to get married in there even though its against the church's teachings. If I grow up and get married and have kids I do want my kids to see it before the so called "love" talk. It corrupts the minds of little kids and confuses their ways of viewing nature. Though when they grow up they will begin to understand it fully and hopefully not give into it. And if you'll notice, most people use Gay as an insult. I'm sure you've called something "Gay" before. And show me this so called "Gene" which automatically makes you Gay and can not change your loveuality. This topic was supposed to be about a cool video for christains. If you think you are better than your Christain friends, stop trollin' topics.
