I'm trying to find a web host, but the internet isn't helping much. I don't just want you to spit out random names, I actually want your experience with them.

The only criteria is is a web server with PHP support. I would like it if didn't have very many restrictions.

/facepalm

I search for a open domain name through Go daddy, then I use Wordpress for my site. Dunno if that helps but I love Wordpress for it's easy to use interface and if you buy themes your site can look hot.

I would go with Dreamhost. They have a great CP and you can get full shell access. They support everything that you would ever want, and have email, jabber, and other special hosting options. Oh, did I mention that they are cheap? http://www.dreamhost.com/

I've used free webs it's probably the easiest if you don't know html coding because they have templates that allow you to make a site in probably 15 minutes.

haha, idiot.

Jk, just buy a domain.
Buying a domain != webhosting and if you had half a brain you'd know that Tom's not an incompetent nitwit who would use Freewebs.

I've heard good things about Dreamhost, but as you can imagine if I had hosting I'd have posted links to my leetle web designs instead of screenshots. So, heh.
Or you could buy Hephaestus research subscriptions in exchange for hosting. :cookieMonster:

I think I'll probably end up using Dreamhost, but I'm not sure if I really need paid hosting.

I think this is what you're looking for.

I think I saw a website somewhere which had a huge list of webhosts. Both free and not free.

Anyway, I have used www.awardspace.com for a long time now. It supports PHP, MySQL, FTP, 5 subdomains, and most things you would like to have when putting up a website, like a graphical interface filemanager. There's only 5GB/month upload, but I don't think you gonna reach that limit.
I found it fast at the first time, but has gone slower recently. It was a lot faster than freewebs anyway.

To sum up: A fast reliable webhost which do what they promise.

I'm currently using dreamhost, though I have used award space in the past for free web hosting and would recommend it - had one issue but it was quickly solved by posting a support ticket.
