he's probably gonna spill something on it anyway. having 200 bucks free for something would be better off used for a monitor or a case

So what? Just because you can pwn someone with a 4 dollar keyboard doesn't mean someone shouldn't be allowed to spend some good money for good quality stuff.
If anything, the design is really attractive and it has features that your 4 dollar keyboard doesn't. They may not necesarilly improve his mad gaming skillz but he can arrange his computer to how he likes it.

It's his money, let him spend it how he wants. You shouldn't be concerned just because of the price. If I had the money to buy a keyboard like that, I'm pretty sure I would. And don't put that out of context, I don't mean if I had just the right ammount of money I'd splash out on it, instead of saving/using it on something more worth while.
