Author Topic: Question about modeling  (Read 1008 times)

Hello, I'm new to modeling with Blender, and was wondering if you guys know any good tutorials to start off with.
Also, I pose a question; should I use Blender or Milkshape?

Start with something simple like milkshape, and then once you're good enough; move up to a higher level program IF YOU WANT TO. Milkshape is perfectly equipped to do anything for blockland, despite anything blender fanboys will tell you. Google some tutorials, or just muck around till you produce something that looks remotely like something.

My top advice is don't try and copy modeling techniques, it's something better to learn individually.

Like Thalberg said, it's easier to start with Milkshape.
A tutorial I used a while back was this: http://detritus.silgrad.com/mstut_modeling.html
Quite a while back actually. It is specifically for a game called Morrowind, but you can use the techniques  to make Blockland weaponry.

Try to keep in mind that anything you learn in modeling is more or less universal to whatever game you're modding. Blockland tends to go for low poly (Boxy) shapes, and flat shaded (Flat shading is pretty simple in milkshape).

Thanks!
And thanks Azerath.
Then afterwards, I just need to learn scripting xD

Scripting is not so easy. :P
I made a topic on how to flatshade and basically use a template script to easily put it in game. If you want me to make any modifications to it, I'll see what I can do.

For blender a great way to start off would be watching Super3boys tutorials 1-10 or so.

Also, if you have any questions, feel free to pm me. I dont mind. Or just post here, lol.

Oh hell yes. I learned hao2blend like a god after watching all of his tutorials.

Super3boy FTW. Us blender renderers are skilled tutorial wise xD
