This is my theory.
Old players: "retail sucks you have to buy it"
Plaz: "V13 sucks because i cant use the getmaplist exploit and aimbot"
various other people: "V14 sucks now no one will come to my servers"
This is all matter of perspective. Things were changed for the better. V14 only sucks because you now have to put effort into making your server known. V13 sucks because now you can't ruin people's fun. Retail sucks because you now have to mow the lawn for a quick couple of bucks.
On the other side.
Other old players: "Yay retail! Less lag, more bricks and a better system!"
Server hosts of V13: "Yay! Now I can host without having my server crash!"
People wishing they were allowed to port forward and want their parents hung by the noose: "FINALLY! ALL MY GOOD IDEAS CAN BECOME A SERVER!"
People that could not port forward doesn't automatically make their servers bad. A lot of dead servers that I saw around V12 V13 were using maps like Nieb's house, which provide unique ideas. The main problem with people and V14 is that now they will actually have to put effort into their servers. Yes, it is quite frustrating at times. I checked the server list and there were 147 servers and 301 people playing. THis is about 1/2 of the people playing hosting their own servers. You can be mad at them, but without good reason. The first week I port forwarded I could not stop hosting. I finally was able to use all of my great ideas. Once I ran out, I started going to other servers. The noise will die down in time, but it is best to look at things with an open mind.
