It'd be fine to train on, but if you really wanted to get into it, getting one at your size may be best.

I have long fingers too and I wanted to play bass for a while but after I got a bass I realized that my left ring finger is too badly twisted up to fret very well. Sucks, but now I play drums, where my weird finger doesn't matter.
