Author Topic: cannot join/host LAN games  (Read 707 times)

Whenever I try to join a LAN game, it doesn't appear. Whenever I try to host a LAN game, it doesn't appear for other people, what do I do?

Are you aware that LAN means only people on your network (ie, somebody sitting beside you plugged into the same router)? You can't join somebody's LAN over the internet. If you are aware of this and understand the problem, it is possible one of you are not properly connected to the network, or one of the computers are blocking it from connecting (a firewall, for example).

^What he said^

LAN = Local Area Network = The bit in your house which is part of your group of computers (NOT anything to do with the internet)

WAN = The Internet! The wide area behind your router in the world! People here can't see LAN games since they are not on you LAN...
Use 'Internet' server for other poeple
Use 'LAN' for your house

Otherwise, no idea

Yes, I know that LAN games are only for people in my house. The LAN games don't show up on a computer that is four feet from mine...

Yes, they are connected to the same router.

Try hosting as an internet game and password it, and query lan on the other computer.
