I do not have control over the releases of the multiple-slots player. There's an updated code file (comes with my L4D survivor and this I think) for players with more than one slot but it breaks if you attempt to run it with a broken copy too.

Why do bullets from automatic weapons just pound the stuff out of you? I got sent flying off of a building(lived the shooting, but died on impact of ground) because someone fired a burst from a Bullpup at me.

the reason they pound the stuff out of you is because it's their modus operandi: for everything but the assault rifle the point of the auto weapons are A: to get the forgeter away from you and B: to kick his ass
