Wow, just when you thought schools could not get more idiotic.

Today I came into lunch to find my school made a lovely new rule. They decided students owing any amount of money would no longer be allowed to receive a lunch. They placed trash cans at the end of every check out line. If a student owing money got a lunch tray, once they got to the checkout line, they cashiers would throw away the students food and turn him/her away.

They think doing this will save money. I think they fail to realize they are losing just as much money throwing out perfectly good food. At least give the kids a damn peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I feel that is absolutely absurd. I honestly cannot believe they are allowed to force students to come into an establishment for 7 hours and then refuse them a lunch. Isn't their some kind of law against stuff like this?

At my school people get free/reduced lunch if their family makes less than some amount of money per year.

I never bought a lunch and I USED to get free lunches.

My mom turned the offer down after awhile.

stuff they are teaching you what the real world is like, wanna work a 13 hour night shift and be scheduled for a double shift starting at 6 am the next day? But you should've just taken the food and not went to the cashier, if they would've caught you and tried to punish you, tell your mom and she will throw a fit about sueing and they will instantly let you go and cancel the plan.

At my school, you can get free lunches if your parent requests it. Also one day when I had to pay, I didnt have enough money so I didnt get to drink anything ;.;

2. Hungry students dont perform or learn well mentally
3. If its a small amount, send a notice home
4. If they owe more than a specified amount just take the tray, save it, and give the student a grilled cheese and some water.
