Author Topic: I got the RROD (Read 2334 times)

I've seen from surveys that a lot of you guys have gotten the RROD. I just turned on my Xbox and unfortunately go it also.
I'm just wondering what you guys have done to get yours fixed. Im going to try on my own first of course and if that doesn't work I'll just send it in. Help would be great! Thanks!

which is why im buying a used ps3
a used xbox would be a giant waste of money

I got it once. Then I shut my Xbox off and turned it back on and it was fine.

This was about 6 months ago.

Trying to fix it yourself destroys the warranty, which is required to send it in to get fixed.

Mine only got it once and all I had to do was turn it off and back on. Never had a problem since. Just a random BIOS read error most likely in my case.

Unplug every thing wait like over nite plug back in. Thats what I had to do

I'll let it sit for a few hours and then try it. If that doesn't work I'll try the towel trick unless it's not recommended, and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll just have to send it in.

As have I. Then it broke again 2 weeks later.

Basically, the towel trick overheats your xbox which is very dangerous if not done correctly (The towel trick is an incorrect method). In most cases, a RROD is fixable, it usually has something to do with the thermal paste. By overheating it, you risk damaging it beyond repair.

That's bull stuff. I did it to mine and for around 6 months, it has NOT RROD'd
