Author Topic: What are some ways to make my computer do its best?  (Read 1700 times)

I'm doing some mid-Winter cleaning on my laptop, and I'd like to know if there are any ways to make sure my computer is running at its best. I've already gone through and deleted a bunch of files I don't need, uninstalled old programs (although my program list contains some random programs I'm a little skeptical about), and ran a virus scan or two. And no I'm not going to "delete system32".

Defrag your hard drive(s).

Clean out your temporary files.

Someone with OCD like Kaphix would suggest reformat.

I really don't want to reformat anything.

I'm defragging right now though. Deleting my temp files only freed up about 30 MB, but it all adds up I guess.

Navigate to your "System32" folder and delete "win32spl.dll".

I wish wscntfy.exe would gtfo my computer.

Silly windows thinks it needs to tell me what I already know.

Navigate to your "System32" folder and delete "win32spl.dll".

And no I'm not going to "delete system32". Or anything in it

Fixed.

Fixed.
By the looks of it, win32spl.dll is for a printing server or something.

Wash the hard drive with water

I really don't care what it is, I'd just rather not touch anything in there.

YOU GOTTA TRAIN IT HARD AND LONG! YOU GOTTA MAKE THAT TINY PIECE OF MINCEMEAT AND MAKE IT INTO SOMETHING THAT'LL KNOCK THE PANTS OFF ANYONE WHO OPPOSES IT! YOU GOTTA WANT IT! YOU GOTTA WANT IT!!

If you ever reformatted in the past, look in your c drive for windows.old

Delete it, but check if theres anything you want.

Never reformatted, this computer is barely a year old.

Make sure your computer's insides are clean. Get a can of compressed air and shoot that stuff. DO NOT USE A VACUUM BECAUSE IT MAKES STATIC ELECTRICITY AND WILL MAKE YOUR COMPUTER stuff BRICKS. Cordless vacuums like Dirt Devil things that you pull out of a docking thing are fine I think.

So it's okay to open up my laptop to do this? I wasn't sure if this kind of thing was only meant for desktops or not.

Get RivaTuner

Tweaks your GPU.

I'll try this later.
