Author Topic: PM Terrains  (Read 1628 times)

PM (Pre-made) Terrains is going to be a series of maps with interiors that slightly resemble bricks in arrangements such as islands, coastlines, rivers, etc. (i.e. simple combinations of land and water) so everyone can build on them. Think of it as a terrain build, but you don't need trust to build on it. Here are some beta screenshots of the empty water:

Gluggers.

This ocean is very big.

When I get more done, you'll probably think that it's inspired by Minecraft. That's because it is. Night, sunset, etc. versions are likely to follow. Comment?

Skybox is pretty damn hot.

HOW COULD YOU MODEL WITH NO FACE!

Ontopic: sounds like a good idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out

This would be cool; non-brick terrain doesn't always fit in with brick-made buildings.

Oh, just a note. That platform in the first picture was just a brick I planted. the real terrain will look way better.

Second update: Constructor is being ass again.

This is a test, so it might not be a smooth island or whatever. Fact is it looks terrible.

(puking)

There's a slight gap in between the plates. (more puking)

Bricks don't align to the grid despite my best efforts to resize the texture correctly.

An island of that shape making this type of shadow is wrong. URG

I have to rethink how I'm going to do this. Still, Constructor is an starfish.

are you going to redo the slate overcast?

DO WANT.

Make a ocean sound :D

You have to make sure the interior's position is on the brick grid as well (i.e. X and Y divisible by 0.5 and Z by 0.2). The offset for all textures should be set to 0 to help it all line up too.

I think I'll make the terrain by piecing together small interiors like real bricks.

Anyway, dynamic clouds holy stuff. They're cloud layers, but they blend together and move at different rates, so you get a bunch of different varieties of cloud cover. It looks really nice. I took some pictures from different points in time to show the some of the types of clouds that appear:

A few clouds on the horizon.

Pretty clear now.

Big cumulus cloud growing out of the distance.

Getting a little heavier cloud cover now...

GAH

Also, the clouds move at a realistically slow speed. So the conditions change gradually. It will be clear, and you'll be sitting there adding your tower of death to the city, and then when your throwing cars off of the Blockhead statue, it'll be all slightly overcasty. The clouds are all around the skybox, so not only one side of the map will have these clouds. I'll see if I can get them to be a little less eyebleeding and more detailed.

Did you get my pm?
Yeah. I don't know if I want to join. I work alone.

I work alone.

Loner.  :cookieMonster:

Anyways, the Textures and stuff looks win. :D

Yeah. I don't know if I want to join. I work alone.
Just think about it, that's all I ask. You're the first and only one I've asked because you seem to be willing to try new stuff with the mission editor.

By the way @everyone else, pm me if you want some more info.
