Inb4Heed.

To me, it's really a matter of preference when it comes to making things for blockland.
Milkshape will do you just fine, blender can go farther though. So if you're trying to expand on 3D modeling in general.
I suggest you start with blender.

Now, what's easier you ask?

Milkshape is. Hands down.

Whats easier to use for 3D modeling?

Milkshape has more easy controls than Blender.
Blender has more advanced stuff than Milkshape.

Milkshape costs around $30.
Blender is free.

Milkshape is for all users.
Blender is NOT for beginners.*

I choose Milkshape 3D.

:DDDD

I agree. It totally matters. I always choose freeware, especially if it's powerful. You just need patience. MilkShape is easier, but (in my opinion) not better. But everyone can have their own opinions.

Blender is NOT for beginners.

Find Super3Boy on Youtube, and you'll be ready to go. I couldn't even make a key and/or color things. Then I watched all of his tutorials, and I made the Pelican that Heed stole.

Thank you. Blender is great for modeling. But its more advanced and in my opinion, better. I like it. I suggest blender. Usually the expensive stuff is better, but in this case. Its not. In my opinion.

Blender has a steep learning curve to get over. That's the main problem. Watching his tutorials got me over that. Now I can learn new things on my own. :)

Sit down with blender for 30 and make things, follow all the video tutorials you find. Then get the trial for milkshape and make things for 30 days, again following all the tutorials you find.

You need to pick the program that works best for you, not the one that works best for Wedge. There isn't anything wrong in asking for suggestions, but if you're going to use it as an excuse to use one program and not the other, the only person losing out is you. You save yourself a few weeks and gain the possibility of missing out on a program you might like more.

Once you've learned one program you've basically learned them all anyway. It's just a matter of becoming familiar with each program's quirks and different interfaces.

This summer I plan to pick up modeling and this is what I plan on doing.

I tried blender and i didnt know what did what.
I got milkshape 3D and its alot easier.
Plus how do I test my model ingame to see how it looks?
