I said at least 20-40GB. I also said just to make sure it fits the OS. My HD is 640GB.

Should do. Just make sure you get the right size (inch-wise) and that it's the right type (most likely IDE, SATA or SATA II). Also, it should be at least 20GB to hold an OS. 40GB to be safe. If I were you, I would get a second opinion just to make sure it is the HD. What does it say when you turn it on?

Also, that's strange. Mine is a prebuilt in a pretty small case, but it's got snap-locks for everything, even the HD's, instead of screws, to make everything easier to change. Strange considering you aren't supposed to get into them because the warranty is void if you do.
well we had this computer ever since i was 3.
i had this one CD that had 200 games on it with a doom type game with smileys and purple hairballs. pokemon in space. and other stuff.
we didnt have internet so maybe we just deleted a wrong file.
i've never actually plugged it in though :/

im using it so i know where everything goes.

an OS is like 4-7 gigs at most after updates.

they don't even make hard drives that small. there will be room.

If it's been around for that long, it's probably not worth fixing, as it will be outdated. Do you remember what it used to run? (Windows 98 most likely)

Also, what was that CD called? I remember one like that.

Quote from: Windows Vista Ultimate Package
Minimum of 15 GB required.

I installed Vista on my old computer the other day, it took the HD exactly from 120GB to 105GB.

EDIT: 6000th post.

Old hardware can be upgraded slightly and used as a lightweight server.

15gigs is a joke.

stuff if an OS was 50 gigs that's tiny.
they don't MAKE hardrives that small anymore. you cant possibly not have room.

I have a couple of 5gig HDs at my desk that I don't use. lol

There are some smaller SSDs out.

lol prob some olf ones that came with a win95-98 computer.

old dos stuff is great

I bought a 1.5tb hard drive and it was pretty cheap. You can get them for like $110 on Newegg.

As Inverted said, you could upgrade it and use it as a server. You could do light tasks on it, like word processing, light gaming (Tomb Raider II styles :P), internet browsing and the like.
Must be painful only having 75GB HD? Last time I had something like that was, let me think, the old Toshiba laptop that ran 98 and had like 20 or 30GB HD. Upgraded from that straight to one with a 250GB HD.

Just telling it as it is, Biscuit.

I've got a couple of 10GB in my old hunk of junk machine, and one in the wardrobe.

I think those 5 gig ones have all my old prons on them. I'd have to check one of these days. lol
