NO. Hyperthreading allows each core to handle two threads at once, which means the cpu can process two tasks at once, which allows for multithreaded code to run more efficiently. Although a 4 core processor with hyperthreading turned on will appear to be an 8 core processor, it still only has the processing power of 4 cores. Also, the performance gain from having hyperthreading turned on is at most 30%, assuming the application can even take advantage of running more then 1 thread.
