Author Topic: Religious Dumbasses  (Read 9704 times)

A lot of Christians are inherently intolerant of other beliefs because they assume they will go to Hell.

If you are Christian and this doesn't apply to you, you are probably not one of the fundies ruining America.
I think if you live do what you think is right, you'll go to Heaven, or at least not be punished eternally.

Was banned after this, again.

Religion can be good for some people; it can please them and guide them to peaceful things. Or not. Therefore, I tend to avoid religion because look what it's caused:

ku klux klan (big time...)

Salem witch trials

Mormons and anti-gay marriage

The Crusades (killing over religion)

The French Wars of Religion (killing over religion)

The Thirty Years War (ditto)

The Reconquista (ditto)

"The Troubles" in N.Ireland (guess what?)

It has it's good ways, but it is also quite horrible at times.

Religion is a story people tell to gain power through having more numbers.
However, because of human rights, they aren't allowed to kill over it anymore.

Slow down there zippy.

-First of all. The kool kids klub technically may have been a religious sect, but the hate crimes they committed against African Americans was not necessarily because of their religion. It was mostly because they didn't like anyone who was different than themselves.

-Same thing goes for hate crimes and general animosity against Mormons and Gays. When you listed Mormons, you did mean hate against Mormons right? Not that: You avoid religion because it created Mormonism?

-All the italicized stuff doesn't count in my book because all those things happened during a time when people were uneducated, did not think for themselves, their entire miserable lives revolved around religion, and so in turn wars and ugly things were born from the sick minds of the aristocrats that were hungry for power (and would do anything to stay in power) and the ignorant majority of the population of Europe that blindly followed them. But I am stating all this mostly because I am bored and like proving people wrong. I really don't have a point. Personally, I feel that religion is something that should be attended to on a personal level and not voiced as an opinion. You want to take part in a/many religion(s)? Fine. You want to spend every walking moment of your life hanging on the thought that there is some higher power that may or may not exist? fine. You want to preach your opinion about the most vague subject EVAR to a bunch of ignorant people? forget no.

Just in case your wondering, I'm agnostic.

So yeah.

However, because of human rights, they aren't allowed to kill over it anymore.

Killing, no. Exclusion, yes. Look at anti-gay campaigns. Delusional.

wat

Also, what do you mean you don't believe in evolution?
Here's where the problem lies: he told me that I brought evolution into the discussion, when he was the one who first mentioned it.

It's physically impossible to prove past events.  I see evolution as being a completely reasonable theory, and is something I constantly consider.  However, I don't use it as a basis is any argument.

I may be Christain, but that ban was stupid and biased. If you didn't say anything against his religion, there would be no logical reason to ban you. But if you did flame his religion (I'm sure you didn't) then he has some reason to ban you. It's idiots like this who stereotype Atheists which cause them to dislike other religions even more. Just because other Atheists flame him shouldn't be a reason to segregate all Atheists. You have your beliefs, and we have ours.

I'm christian, and I don't complain about DM church.

"Better safe than sorry"

Sorry, better smart than stupid.

I'm christian, and I don't complain about DM church.
It's just a build in a game afterall.

I just hate the Mormons because they are pushy.
They had a dozen people at my university fair and they went and got you locked in awkward conversations.
All dressed in suits and stuff, unlike everyone else in the whole city. Really pushy.

This one wouldn't let me go without getting my email. |:/

Evolution is a fact.  Evolution by natural selection is a theory.

>Impossible to prove past events
It isn't fact, by strict fundamentals.

The holocaust is regarded as fact.

Isn't it a past event?
