If it just wont connect, there's probably a problem on the Hosts line.
You won't be able to join. There's no changing that. It's got nothing to do with having
your ports forwarded. The need for Port-Forwarding may have been removed in the latest version, but there can still be problems.

That's an Avatar. Go to your Profile by pressing the Profile button at the top of the page.
From there click "Forum Profile Information" on the left.
Click the little button that says "I will upload my own picture".
Then click on the button to the right that says "Browse..."
It will take you to a view of your computer folders.
Locate the picture you want from there and click open.
Some text should appear in the box left of the "Browse..." button.
Move down the page and click the button at the bottom labelled "Change Profile"
You will now have that picture as your Avatar, it will be displayed by your messages.
If the image is bigger than 75x75 pixels, it will be re-sized to fit. This will mean that Transparency on it will be removed. (I think it affects Transparency, I'm not too sure).
You can also use .gif images, these are animated images.
These too have to be 75x75 pixels or under. If they're larger, they will be re-sized and only the first frame will be shown as a single image. In other words, it wont animate.
