I'm sorry for making this big of a fuss. I'm just tired of seeing the same tribal stuff posted about black people here on the forums, and I'm tired of seeing tribal comments every time a black person is mentioned just about anywhere on the internet.

I'm sorry that people make jokes. Anonymity brings out the worst in people

And I really hate that the way I speak is considered to be talking white.

And who says that? From my experience, the people who use "talking white" are usually black people

as far as i know, the amount of curriculums in america focused on asian, middle eastern, and african history pale in comparison to those on the US and Europe.

because history in america tends to focus on america, just like I'm sure history in asian countries tend to focus on asian history

At this point I'm just asking questions, because if that's not institutional racism then what is this?

People have biases towards "normal-sounding" names. If it is due to race though then it's still not institutional but people being tribal starfishs. There needs to be more conclusive data on this though

Or this?

The study that they used for this was in Milwaukee, which is full of tribal starfishs. Not a good city to use if you're trying to do a study that's supposed to represent the entire country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_wage_gap_in_the_United_States#Black

There are many variables involved in this, including the type of job and economic background.

If it has nothing to do with the government, what is this form of racism called?
It's called individual people being tribal starfishs. There are a lot of these individuals, but comparatively to the whole population, it's a fairly small group of people, and it's steadily declining. Some areas are more tribal than others, and will take more time to make the group become smaller.

EDIT: jesus christ guys I leave for 20 minutes and there's 19 replies already

Do you not know what words mean?

institutional racism means that the government has an active agenda to hinder a group of people

this is no longer something that is supported by the US government. in fact, it is fairly heavily discouraged. illegal, even. police officers are obviously prone to corruption since they consist of a large body of citizens, and so, less-fortunate members of the force will always exist. it's not a good thing, but it doesn't mean the government is actively saying it's okay. it just means that people were given authority that don't deserve it.

Thank you, otto-san-senpai-sama

That's actually a racial slur.

Im sure it is but I didn't use it that way

I bet you'll dismiss this
And this

It only shows the outcomes and not the causes/reasons behind it. Again, poorer neighborhoods usually have more 'minorities' due to past segregation.

forget it, I ran out of stuff to say

"People with low incomes frequently don’t have good legal representation or access to expert witnesses or investigations on their cases"

http://www.districtchronicles.com/news/view.php/426705/Half-of-wrongfully-convicted-are-Black-n#.UgjtxKxqPe4

Same study

"People with low incomes frequently don't have good legal representation or access to expert witnesses or investigations on their cases,"

Nah, this is only from 2012. It certainly doesn't apply anymore!

So people of various races/ethnicities don't get the same screentime as each other? What horrible oppression!

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/15/nyregion/15subprime.html?pagewanted=print

Again, this is just looking at the surface of it. Like I keep saying, it has to do with class and past segregation

I'd love to be able to say racism isn't that bad these days, but I grew up in a mostly-white farming town in the midwest. Racism is extremely prevalent around my area, which upsets me greatly as I've met a lot of different people with different skin colors, every one of them being decent human beings with their own hopes and dreams.

Which is why all the white guilt stuff bothers me: not because I'm white, but because it's apparently easier to blame the majority of white people for racism instead of focusing on the real problem, which is ignorance.

This. I'm not saying racism doesnt exist, that would be a stupid statement to make. I'm saying that institutional racism has been abolished (with the exception of affirmative action of course) and the racial disparities have to do with past wrongs including segregation rather than racism

You and other people are dismissing this as, 'hurr poor ppl'.

I'm not dismissing it, I'm explaining it you monkey

So you people think that minorities are on equal footing with white people because these incidents only have to those afflicted by poverty?

Yes. Like I said, it has to do with class

That a cop will never racially profile a black person if they're not poor-looking? Even BBC knows what's up.

LMAO I knew you'd try using Ferguson as an example of racism

Also notice how none of those people rioting are called 'thugs'

So because they werent called thugs means its racism? You loving dolt

I dare any one of you people to rationalize this

Thats loving horrible but it doesnt have to do with race
Try again

Or this

Police brutality is a serious problem, but it doesnt have to do with race
Try again

Those people are only poor

Police make mistakes, yes, believe it or not they're human. And I never said "only" poor, you're assuming that I'm dismissing them because theyre poor and its disgusting that you'd sink so low as to try to put words in my mouth and a motive behind them
Try again

This 11 year old girl was poor

Police brutality is a serious problem

I wanna see you guys try to rationalize this

"He said the images are important for facial recognition training and that the department also uses images of white people."

But noooooooooooooo

Police brutality is a serious problem

It doesn't exist no more

Police corruption and brutality is a serious problem

Not at all

Please read my post about stop and frisk

What's happening here isn't unconstitutional

I said stop and frisk was unconstitutional you illiterate forgettard

This is the most naive thing I have ever read in a long time.

Yes because pointing out that old data is being used is very naive

Yes poor people get forgeted over

http://www.aclum.org/stopandfrisk

Cops have been targetting poor neighboorhoods, which Ive already stated tends to have a higher concentration of 'minorities'. This is not t he only problem with it though, cuz stop and frisk is extremely unconstitutional too

Like this?

It usually helps to read the paper you're using as evidence, or at least just reading the abstract, because it literally says that the discrimination stems from poverty and being lowerclass. Of course the fact that "minorities" tend to be in poorer neighboorhoods does come from segregation and racism in the past, which needs to be fixed. But white guilt and special treatment doesnt help and the discrimination is not directly because of racism, but being poorrer

Plus
That was written almost 20 years ago

I support the idea behind the repaying African American communities.

How

While historically they have contributed to a large portion of the modern infrastructure, the society is still built upon archaic rules that systematically hinder the Colored persons

How?

and it is unfortunately in a large part due to the simple reluctance to see there is still a problem.

You're not giving any specific examples, you're just saying the vacuous statement that "there's a problem" What problems are there? Give me examples

We are closer to equality and I am not denying that, however the fight is far from over.

yeah you're right affirmative action still exists

Here's a thought, if you want people to stop complaining about being discriminated against sooner, help by joining the movement to end discrimination.

no thanks I don't want to be part of your social justice cult

That silly "alllivesmatter" crap is very redundant. We know all lives matter

Do we really? I mean, people only seem to be outraged when it's a black person being killed by a white cop and not the other way around

it is however only Black lives that are continuously put in jeopordy due to societal opinion and interaction.

are you handicapped

One brown townogy I liked refered to it as people who go to a cancer rally and begin shouting at all the joggers saying there are other diseases too and those should be represented at this unrelated event.
