There was a lot of high demand for NiGHTS to be a playable character. When the owners of a NiGHTS fansite received word that NiGHTS wasn't in the game, they began a 'Don't Forget NiGHTS' campaign to get the character included as downloadable content. The campaign was noticed by Sumo Digital who incorporated NiGHTS into the game as a flagman who appears at the beginning and end of each race. Possibilities of NiGHTS appearing as playable DLC would depend on how well the game sells.
