I don't get it, why is it harder for adults to learn how to play video games?

Was it his first time playing Super Mario Bros? It could be that he's never played the game, or any platformer before, and had to get used to the controls. If he has, then maybe it's just his special case and not all adults. Or maybe he's just not a platformer person.

The only games my dad can play are my racing/driving simulators using my racing wheel. Using a keyboard for gaming is awkward for some people.

It's because kids absorb information better than adults. Some people adapt better but just generally it's more difficult for them to create new schemas for technology.

Been playing games since I was about 3-4... My dad used to play on the Gamecube. Then, when we got a Wii, he played a few games on that, but now he mostly plays computer games. My sis and I tried playing SSBM with him, he didn't fully get it.

Same. My mom thinks everything that I do incorrectly is by video games. She gives me the dead stare when she finds me playing Black Ops right before school, after school, and right before bed.

I think it is because adults are more stressed out over work and do not have their mind set on trying to learn the controls of a system or PC. They may have used the old GameCube as a kid but now they must realize controls of many different games such as the Xbox, PS3, Wii, DS, and many more out there. For me, my parents don't play video games much. My dad just doesn't have the time and my mom just doesn't like them. She's one for those Rated E games and not games like Halo or Black Ops :/

was expert at it.

Anyway, My dad is alright at racing games but not really any other types. My FRIEND'S is the master of almost EVERY racing game and is pretty good at FPS games.
