The Binding of Isaac

This is a game developed by Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl, in which you control the protagonist Isaac. Cast into the depths below the floorboards of his bedroom while running from his deranged God obsessed mother out to sacrifice him, Isaac journeys through different stages collecting hundreds of different items that make him stronger. The items play a major role in the game, so check out the wiki HERE for a list of items, their effects, and reference pictures.

The game itself is very Zelda-esque, in that you play room by room and once defeating a stage boss, you advance to a different, more difficult floor.

I am totally addicted to this game (almost 70 hours logged on steam), I've beaten it 6 (i think) times and it just got harder. Actually, at one point the game DOES get harder. Awesome, right? Yeah it's forgetin' tough.

this game is amazing(ly morbid) and you should all go buy it right now. very good time waster.

Wasn't there already a topic?

This game is good.

Got it for Christmas on steam, and I'm awful at it.

Farthest I ever got was Caves I, then I'd die.

I ALMOST killed Satan in Sheol. So difficult.

That thread is now about a month dead, so here's this one for continued discussion of the game.
I know, I was just linking him to the previous thread.

>has killed satan at least half a dozen times
>47 hours played

You get better

It's taken me a while to get better. And now I've gotten to the point where I can tell if it's gonna be a stuffty game. Problem is, I used to just keep playing even though I was clearly not getting good items or playing well.

So I'm going to bump this because after taking a long break from the game, I came back to finish the few things that I still had left to do.

About a half hour ago I achieved Mama's Boy (finished The Womb without taking damage, I haven't had a heart-pumping video game moment like that in a long time), so now all I have to do is:

  • Collect The Wafer and Raw Liver (and effectively achieve Golden God)
  • Achieve Dark Boy (complete The Depths without taking damage)

I tried playing with an Xbox controller but it just doesn't feel right. Probably because I've spent 50 hours playing with the keyboard.
