I thought they had their tech support stuff in india though? If it was in america, you'd think that there would be some people who could actually speak english and weren't some weird indian guy with a name like "Balai Shishkukuia" or whatever.
It's known as cheap-labour, most major companies will attempt to scrounge money wherever they can, anything to boost their wages. This is why call-centers are mostly in india, few reasons why:
- No minimum wage, meaning you can pay them at stupidly low prices.
- High maximum-work hours, making them work as much stupidly long hours at little pay.
- Little or no health and safety regulations, companies spend 100's of thousands on maintaining a healthy and clean work environment.
- Low site rent or pay, the sites are often rented or sold a very low price to attract big companies. This is India's main tactic when it comes to maintaining themselves; they'll create low-price land which can be used. Land in the US may add up to way beyond 20,000 annually. In India, it may only be 2,000.
- Extremely high unemployment in India, this means that they'll do whatever, even if they do get paid only 10p an hour.
In the end it's all about money, the company won't care how they get the money, as long as they get it. Anything to line their own pockets.
Ontopic:
Customer service sucks, there needs to be a higher quality standard of support. I don't know how many times i've got "turn it off and back on again", thanks genius; I haven't tried that already.
