Krater is a post-apocalyptic squad-based RPG in which you control three characters ("mercenaries") at a time which each have two abilities and a "gadget" (extra ability with a 2-minute cooldown). You select the mercenaries from a roster (you buy these for money or get from quests) at any time that you're not in combat. There are four classes of mercenaries (Bruiser (tank), Medikus (medic), Regulator (ranged and crowd control), and Slayer (melee)), and there are no restrictions on mercenary combinations. Each mercenary levels independently and must be upgraded (costs in-game money) for every 5-level milestone. Each mercenary can also be further customized with implants that buff the mercenary, boosters that buff a single ability, a weapon, and a gadget; weapons and gadgets are temporary and can be swapped at will, while implants and boosters are permanent (they can only be replaced while out of combat, and when replaced the old implant/booster is permanently lost). The game also features permadeath, if a mercenary is killed enough times without visiting a healing bay then the mercenary is permanently lost.
The game also, supposedly, includes Diablo-style multiplayer, but I haven't got it to work yet.
