Author Topic: What are your views on Online Codes? (Or whatever they are called.)  (Read 1311 times)

A general rule of thumb for PC gaming is use Steam or blow yourself up.
Pardon me while I go blow myself up because there's good games that aren't on Steam. (Blockland, which also has an 'online code')

You should blow yourself up for not having common sense anyway.

it'd be better to say "download or blow yourself up" because I think the time to download outweighs the whole code bullstuff.

I do not have Steam installed what-so-ever.

It doesn't take much effort to type out a code.

eh, i guess it depends.

it kind of sucked for me when I was activating my windows reinstall because i had to look back behind my computer a couple times for fragments of the code

though that's a completely different medium so this example isn't valid anyway.

... I'm pretty sure no console game I have ever played has needed a code to play online. It's probably some stuffty XBOX scam like their online system.

It's funny because PS3 does this.

Don't tell me you actually believe this bullstuff. A game is a product. You have just as much right to buy or sell it second hand as you do first.
I never said it was the law I just said it is never really worth it.

I haven't played my PS3 in some months now due to having all my games on PC, but in the 4 odd years I've had my PS3 I never remember typing in a code to activate anything?

I took steam of the auto start list because I didn't need it :cookieMonster:

Only some games do it. I'm actually surprised you didn't play any of them.

Banning second hand games is a horrible idea, When i was younger i basically lived on them and trading in because i was all poor and sadface.

never buy a used pc game. i cant believe there even is a term for it. but they dont exist.

edit; technically you could use the serial number for a solely single player game and it shouldnt be an issue.
but even if a single player game has online activation or accounts, the key may be useless anyways.

publishers lose more money on trade-ins and 2nd hand selling then they do on piracy.

dosnt make it nice to do, but its their fix.

Has this code thing become popular in the last year or two? Because that's around when I stopped playing and therefore buying console games and I never saw them. Seems like a stupid idea to me.
