played it, the only thing i can recommend is just outrun the zombies and kill EVERYONE YOU SEE. also get near a group/clan with a van, hide in the back, and let them carry you away to their base, then kill them quietly. I managed to take out 8 players like that

Pretend you are your player.
This is one of those games where that sort of thing will make you king.

Think running across this open field is dangerous? Sit in the treeline and wait 5 minutes.
Oh look, a car is driving by, and getting shot at. Seems you made a good move, time to go the other way.

I've saved from so many deaths just by waiting it out.

take advice from mura he's insanely good at dayz and has been for a while
the mod isn't hard and like ike said the hatchet is the easiest way to kill zombies if you're going that route, but a lee enfield is a great weapon for taking out players. the mod just takes time, playing with people that are better than you is a good way to learn.

it also is a very accurate and efficient way to defend yourself from other players. What do you think the bigger threat is? The zombies you can run away from or the dude with the ak47 in the general store?
