Garry's Mod lag

Well, I just got Garry's Mod a few days ago when it was on sale and when I first started playing I did Construct and when I spawned I was lagging like hell. All I could do was Flat Grass, I was also supprised because the nuke mod didin't lag me but that map did.

I wan'ted to know if anyone had suggestions for how to reduce lag, I know you can't get rid of it but can anyone help me "Lower" it?

did you try lowing the graphics settings?

turn down all of your settings. and then if you need to, lower the resolution of the game. if that doesn't work, you should just get a better computer

"-dxlevel -80 -16pp" in the launch options. Set your settings all the way down, and set your resolution down to 800x600 if needed. You can remove the "-dxlevel 80" after you've launched it once, otherwise the settings will reset again.
