Author Topic: Efficient Terrain Generator  (Read 1660 times)

As many of you know, I recently shut down the DayB project due to lack of activity and progress. With the lack of RTB and low quality servers and the remaining work we have produced, I figured I'd give it a shot again but there's a catch -- there's no way in hell we can actually pull it off without a terrain generator, it's as simple as that.

The map is so large that create so much terrain isn't really possible without going insane (like I previously have). All I'm looking for is a terrain generator that can produce efficient and climbable hills with little to no jumping.

If you have a generator capable of doing so or are willing do so, please contact me.

There's a terrain one that made these 8x8x8 bricks terrain

No one say ghosts terrain generator, it's inefficent and fills up 256k bricks if you make a map 128 bricks by 128 bricks big.

not to mention it looks like stuff.

I am working on updating PTG. It might take while, but the terrain will look MUCH better and it will also feature infinite terrain generation.

That doesn't really make sense nor is it a valid reason, plus you have the option of using what's called CHV, which allows you to set custom chunk height values rather than using the seed system. While not perfect, it was my best attempt to give the community something that was needed at the time. If you don't recommend it that's fine and I have no problem with that. However, hatred for a free add-on, especially one that I put so much effort into, is unwarranted. I'm not angry, just passionate. :P

BTW, I made this by using the CHV method and by enabling sinkholes to remove the outer bricks (don't mind the pointed mountain, I did that on purpose with intent to edit it later):

Edit: for some reason PixPipeline randomly resizes my pictures...
