Author Topic: Is it okay to fail these classes in 8th grade?  (Read 3485 times)

OP i'm the only post you should read since you are like illiterate anyway or some stuff

it's not okay to fail any classes, period.  my family isn't even asian and yet i think failure is like one of the biggest dishonors a student can have.

For my school district middle school you had to take bits of three different languages to try them out. Then in high school you picked the one you liked most and did  two years of it.

I hated it. Pointless as forget in my opinion. Graduated college in December and still haven't used the bullstuff second language stuff I was forced to learn.

I can't remember a foreign language to save my life. I hope I get to work with a Spanish speaking partner when I operate in the Spanish speaking neighborhoods.

Learning new languages comes reeaally easy for me

I honestly don't see why learning a second language is important, really. Most people with the careers they want/get doesn't even need another language than their native language, and besides, the method of teaching students languages is horrible and (pulling this estimate out of my ass) about 80% of people or so actually never remember how to speak the language taught. Babies never had to take tests or get homework to learn their first language, why do we do it?

Because each class needs a grade, of course.

If people want to learn it make it an elective or something.

Its an elective at my school but I took it anyway

And here in Arizona learning Spanish can come a long way

Yeah, learning Spanish can come a long way. Taking a Spanish class can't.

I hope you don't seriously believe you're going to be fluent by the end of your 4-year Spanish classes. It doesn't happen.

I wouldn't fail a class because you end up having it anyways. Atleast here, if you flunk a class (by not getting an average of 18 or having the 3rd trimester below 6), you need to take it in december. Flunk it there and retake it in februrary. Flunk it there and you're stuck with it for two years. And lets not forget the weight school has on its own plus having to take an extra class.
