Author Topic: My friend won't port-forward for a laughable reason.  (Read 1204 times)

I don't even know how to port forward on my wifi lol

It is an option, but I've spent hours looking up what IP goes where and it's just confusing.

hamachi's not that much of a problem?
it actually really convenient
hamachi makes me really uncomfortable
i uninstalled it a few days ago
it was /always running/ and whenever i restarted my computer all i would see was
"Updating Hamachi..."
it's pretty unnerving

You can disable that, just don't enable the open when the computer is turned on and thats it.
Also the updating thing is a bug, if i'm not wrong.

You connect to your router to forward ports. This is usually done via typing the IP address into the address bar.

You probably aren't wrong, but mine wants IPs for some reason.  No reason to do it now though since my router permanently died, there is no other Internet system that reaches where I live, and Verizon won't cooperate.

I can't play Blockland (or anything online) since my dad banned me from using much data since we're confined to 6GB/month (and we still pay overage fees every month).  I either have to get a job and pay for the extra Internet or we have to move to a new house with better coverage, which we're working on.

But as of now, I'm stuck with my parent's Android phone hotspots/tethering.

it sounds to me like he's already in the menu for settings, just doesn't know what to do after that

It's not the port being open that's the issue, it's the program connected to that port that's the issue. If the port's not open, the computer can't connect to that program to exploit it. Minecraft is a pretty safe program though, so as long as he doesn't connect any other program to that port that may not be as safe, he's in the clear.
