Gnostic and agnostic are modifiers of the word athiest. They do not change the definition of the word athiest. Regardless of if you are a gnostic or agnostic athiest, you are an athiest. Just like there are tabby cats and black cats, both are still cats. The word cat has a definition, just as the word athiest does. SeventhSandwich is still correct.
Save for the fact that he was referring to "agnostics" as entirely different belief group, ie theist, agnostic, atheist, when in reality it's a modifier as you said. It is not a separate group as SS was saying, which is what I was refuting. If we're going to be talking about word definitions, semantics are implied and helpful.

There should be 50 genders because people are just so picky about what they are.  Just call yourself male or female, because you obviously have to be one.

this thread: Well according to my ass/some guy on reddit/something I googled this my definition and that is its true meaning. All other meanings are invalidated!

Pick a definition and stick with it instead of trying to force it onto someone else.

I don't really like how people throw the word "agnostic" around.  My dad's mother is agnostic.  She says that she thinks there's a possibility that a god or supreme deity exist, but she isn't sure what to believe, so she calls herself agnostic.
um... that means she is agnostic

well not exactly, I guess. agnostic is more like, specifically, I do not believe in anything, rather than just being unsure

50 genders is bullstuff, there should only be 2
Male
Female

I've asked a ton of people what they mean when they say they are agnostic (just agnostic, not agnostic atheist or agnostic theist)
A few people have given descriptions in line with deism
A few people have given descriptions in line with general theism
A few have given really odd descriptions that I really have to idea how to classify, but definitely not under agnosticism
Most of the remaining people are atheists, calling themselves something different, either deliberately, or out of ignorance of the atheist position, to separate themselves from the negative connotation that atheism has (thee people fit under a link I've posted several times) or some other twisting of definitions to wiggle out of the term atheist

i have seen this thread for so long and i really didn't want to click on it because i knew exactly what the forget was happening in here but here i am

There's a link that I posted already that addresses exactly this. Please read it: http://mechanicalbrain.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/why-you-are-not-an-agnostic/
I consider myself an agnostic because I'm willing to accept the facts. The facts that I see is that too many horrible things that humanity has gone through as the cause of other humans, can be somewhat supported in the bible by God. This makes me view God as a people-created figure, not the powerful, unconditionally loving idol that the bible tries to make him out to be, while coexisting with these horrible things that he has done. These flaws make me view God as a myth. If other evidence comes out to support Christianity, or even Hinduism for all I care, as a true religion, then I would gladly accept the facts. The difference between being agnostic and atheist, is that being atheist usually means that you don't believe in any sort of religion, and that you would defend the fact about how you don't. (atleast this is what happened to it because of society) Being theist is the same way, you believe and defend. Agnostic, in my opinion, is the ability to switch based on evidence. I'd rather not listen to this mass media hipster "peter" on this article of yours. What makes him right? He even says the fact that society has changed the meaning of this word: so stop trying to change it back and "go with the flow."

When people call themselves agnostic, I usually just think, "That doesn't really tell me anything other than 'you're not religious'".  Kind of what it is, but not very specific.

I'd love to actually go around and give reasons to why Christianity in the spiritual realm is true, but I just can't really seem to be able to turn it into something that others are capable of comprehending.  I can give gobs and gobs of proof on the things that are visible on Earth today that tie into what people saw in Bible times though.  I'm a catastrophist nondenominational Christian with my own views on how the world works that may not be shared by many people.
