well for one, Not The Robots is something I highly recommend, and it's 90% off which means it's 99 CENTS WHICH IS REALLY LOW
secondly Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball which is excellent, the game's super customizable through custom modes and modifiers to default modes (which can be applied as part of modes too, but they're there to be more convenient). That's 2 dollars.
So then you have 4 dollars left to spend on Half-Life 1 and 2. You can buy Source for better graphics on 1 or the original if you want to play the cut parts of the game where it's a literal rail shooter (literally you're on a platform on rails and have to shoot people. It's slow but pretty fun IMO. You don't miss out on it in Source, but large parts of it are cut, like two whole maps worth.)

One of my favorite cheaper steam games has been Risk of Rain, it's a rouge like and it's sorta space themed, and I have like > 100 hours in it.  Right now it's only like 2.50.  Oh and you can play online, it's tons of fun.
