Op and everyone clearly don't understand what this is. FreeSO is currently in beta and is a free legit remake of the sims online, you do not need the original sims game to run Freeso. Freeso also uses a completley new engine created by their team, the online community is friendly and it's a fun game to play. If you think it isn't legit or suspicious then here is a video I made of me playing the game:

Actually this could be possible one day, I was speaking with some of the people on Mod the sims about implementing content from the TS2 into other game engines. I was successful at converting a character from the sims 2 to the old Unreal engine (2004). One of the guy's there was showing me that he had created a standalone TS2 game with a different engine which was story driven, it wasn't completed but it sure as hell looked interesting

but freeso does require the original The Sims Online client, no account.
