Author Topic: UFO 50 - lots of games from lots of well-known indie game creators  (Read 1785 times)

UFO 50 is a collection of 50 single and multiplayer games from the creators of Spelunky, Downwell, Time Barons, Skorpulac, and Madhouse. Jump in and explore a variety of genres, from platformers and shoot 'em ups to puzzle games and RPGs. Our goal is to combine a familiar 8-bit aesthetic with new ideas and modern game design sensibilities.

what do you guys think? considering i love spelunky, downwell and most of the other games from these guys, this looks loving awesome. and considering they're basically full games (full as in like old/retro commercial cartridge full), this will probably keep me occupied for a while when i'm able to get it.

seems like a ludum dare compilation more than anything. uses really bad pixel art to give false nostalgia, and none of the games have an actual set theme. not sayings its bad but its really mediocre.

but it actually will be good
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

can't wait to see someone speedrun it in a half hour using pizza crust as a controller

that kind of reminds me of how RotMG came about
it was from some coding competition thing I think, where all of the projects had to use the same sprite sheet

realm of the mad god actually turned out semi-decently for a while. this is just a pack of things with stuffty pixel art and no set theme/purpose. just generic games that you would probably find in the dollar store. not saying it's going to be really bad, it'll just be mediocre.

It amazes me that there are people who are actually going to buy this garbage. I really need to boot up my stuffty indie project again.

Muh nostalgia XDDD

I don't dislike pixel art at all, quite the opposite, but a games being "retro-themed" is a stuffty main selling point.
Also although it's nice if they're really bringing out back games from the 80's, there are emulators for that?

I know what Downwell and Spelunky are, but I never heard of the other developers. I might check this out if it's not too expensive.

This looks boring as forget and you shouldn't buy it when it comes out.

id need some nasa-engineered super trampoline to jump to conclusions like you lot
