i stopped playing any FF after the playstation 1 (not including 11, online)

is 13 another j-pop final fantasy? or did they finally get back to the roots

It's got that j-pop feel, but it's still a fun game. I'd say some of the songs are an improvement, however some of them are weird.
The fighting system is turn based, not like whatever pile of crap 12 was.

Dunno, go look up some vids or something. I haven't played it myself, only watched my bro play it.

I played XII more than I played X, but I liked X more. I still have my XII save with 300 something hours on it.

I have only really played VI & VII and enjoyed them both. I like the FF's that have a more technological feel to them.

From what I got to see from it last night, it used a stat raising system like FFX, began the game with a plot similar to VII. Graphics are good, but the game battle system reminded me of a somewhat more advanced version of Grandia with active and inactive roles depending on who the party leader was. I didn't like the fact that if one character died, you had to start over. Also, Odin is a transformer...A friggin transformer!

I'm still trying to wrap that concept of whether that's a good thing or bad in my head. I keep shouting out "Summon GFs, transform and roll out!" every time I saw him pop out.

Overall, certainly a visually pleasing game, but seemed to borrow too much from predecessors and other games for me to probably purchase. I did love the Jazz type soundtrack playing in the background when you're in control of the black guy. And the baby chocobo was cute too.
