I've heard people say they were both bad, which do you think is better?

I'm talking about the campaign part, not the add-ons included in either.

i like the passing cuz bill sacrificed himself, i was so tired of him bitching.

Where is bills body? I couldn't find it. Or I'm just blind.

after you get out of the elevator look in the generator room and you should see him with an assualt rifle

The Passing had more of a story then Crash Course. But on the other hand Crash Course linked No Mercy and Death Toll (was it?) just like in L4D2 they are linked. Each time you play The Passing though has 12 diffrent interactions with the original survivors and was longer than Crash Course. Overall, I like The Passing better.

Crash course only has 2 levels, the passing has 3 levels

I miss Bill. :( But I like Crash Course, even on the hardest difficulty the Tank was still easy to kill there because he got stuck all the time.
