Something might be wrong with the reader.

you can open it up, and plug any computer's dvd drive into it, and it works.
my friend did just that. thought i dont know if it was sata or molex powering. or how it all was done.

Sadly, that actually won't work.
I'd explain it, but I'd rather not.
Basically, the DVD player that comes with the 360 is "locked" to that 360, you'd have to flash the new DVD player to work on the 360, or hack your 360 itself.

Plus, the 360 doesn't have a regular "power" output, but it does have a regular SATA output for the DVD drive.

lol, got it working, just jiggled the disk holder before putting the game in. I can't believe M$ makes a living for doing what i did
