One time in SoCal, there was a fire in Sylmar that was so bad it blanketed OUR SKY (I'm in Valencia) with ash, and we had school cancelled for like 3 days. I played WoW the entire time. The sky looked dismally apocalyptic, it was epic.

they never closed school but
in elementary when winds would be high we would have to go into a "rainy day schedule"
that "rainy day schedule" is just dumb. No going outside when there is rain/high winds. Oh no! a kid slipped on some rain and fell on their bum! Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?
