I'm in the same boat, I have the ability to make things and I would love to make something, but I don't have any idea where to start or what I could make. I'm also kinda lazy :(
This.
With TorqueScript alone, you can't really do much with it for an indie game. I think Torque's products require a license to be purchased before you can go commercial.
You'd be better off finding open source graphics and audio APIs and making your own engine.
If you're going for that, I recommend
C++ or Lua. C++'s syntax is also very similar to TorqueScript so there wouldn't be much learning for you to do.
But if you're serious about an RPG, please, DO NOT contain time-consuming, effortless tasks like mining or woodcutting.
Add something that allows for fun or actual skill and practice to have a part. Also, try to keep it true to the "RP" element, and not a runescape clone, so to speak.
