Author Topic: Can't decide what to do with newfound want for scripting  (Read 1849 times)

DRPG is literally the guest piece of garbage.
There is 0 RPG aspect in it.
Literally, it is the worst coded thing I have ever seen.
DRPG can be improved in too many ways.
If you learn to code, don't include mining/wood cutting, no one wants to waste their time doing that.

I still think that DRPG stands for something like Daniel Rogers Giratina RP

i'd imagine the players would all stand around yelling at each other in giant letter fonts and whoever yells the loudest wins.

It's Destiny RPG for your understanding ;P

Or Derp RPG, whatever you like better.

If you can't figure this out on your own you will never be able to do it.

I've already learned how to script a bit, thus the reasoning behind this thread

I'm in the same boat, I have the ability to make things and I would love to make something, but I don't have any idea where to start or what I could make. I'm also kinda lazy :(

This.

With TorqueScript alone, you can't really do much with it for an indie game. I think Torque's products require a license to be purchased before you can go commercial.
You'd be better off finding open source graphics and audio APIs and making your own engine.

If you're going for that, I recommend C++ or Lua. C++'s syntax is also very similar to TorqueScript so there wouldn't be much learning for you to do.

But if you're serious about an RPG, please, DO NOT contain time-consuming, effortless tasks like mining or woodcutting.
Add something that allows for fun or actual skill and practice to have a part. Also, try to keep it true to the "RP" element, and not a runescape clone, so to speak.

Hmm. Make a centerprint-based platform game. That should keep you busy.
:P
