I had a major overbite, so they gave me this thing called a Herbst appliance- basically 2 metal poles connected to my molars. They moved so I could move my mouth up and down, but that's about it. Not too fun, and I got called "Terminator" at least a couple of times. Also, sometimes one of the bars got stuck :(
I think I had the same thing.
I don't remember what they were called though
and yes they got stuck a lot which I hated
