Author Topic: Old Dark Orbit (aka Dark Orbit 1.0): Cont'd  (Read 1955 times)

So, since (thanx to Wild Tangent, so to say....) we cannot enjoy the ingenious game made by Kreyworks (maybe Crayworks) in 2001 anymore... even though we paid for it (???), what is available around, of the kind?

Plizzzzz, don't even mention in this topic the new so-called "Dark Orbit"/Eve from BigPoint, which is nothing but a pompous, overblown strategy game... this thing makes me and other fans of 2001 Dark Orbit literally sick. I'm wondering, how they actually got "Dark Orbit" name for this strategy game, was a some kind of deal with WT, so we cannot now play the original game???

So, anyway, what is available, which most closely resembles 2001 REAL "Dark Orbit"?

That is Isometric, spaceship pilot/shooter/labyrinth.

Hopefully someday we will see some remake of the REAL Dark Orbit, even though it's a tough luck to beat that beautiful (and just 11 MB!) RPG game.

Here is by the way more story about the REAL "Dark Orbit"

I've hunted for the original Dark Orbit for more hours than I care to admit and have come to the conclusion that even if you somehow find the game/launcher somewhere it will be unplayable because it connects to WT in the process and WT doesn't support it anymore.

I wrote about what happened to the game and my thoughts on the subject in another thread a few months ago if you're interested.

Yes, I've red that. Couldnot reply, though, as that thread is expired, so I opened this one.

There is yet another forum where people were trying to get answers:

That thread is old, too.

I hope that WT will realize that there are more than enough people who still wants this game back. Alien Sky is cool, but it has its own niche, same as the Eve's game. They may be liked by some folks, but they belong to the absolutely different genre.
