Author Topic: Sims 3 Supernatural won't appear ingame.  (Read 2032 times)

I bought Sims 3 Supernatural on Origin, downloaded and installed it. However when I load the game, it is not displayed on the launcher and does not appear in the game. I thought updating to 1.39 would help but whenever I try to update I get an "invalid file" error.

I haven't tried removing my mods but I don't want to unless that's the only way to do it.

If someone will resolve this then you'll have metaphorical hugs.

Well I wanted a digital copy and that was the cheapest place to get it, I bought it for £21 and I'm not paying double that just because I don't like Origin. It's so bad it's not even funny anymore, your joke and Origin.

Think the patch downloader would help? What's the invalid file?

It doesn't specify. Just says

"Error: Invalid File" and stops the update. But I'll try the patch downloader.

If that doesn't work people seem to say that doing this giant base game to newest version update fixes it. http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/TS3_1.39.3.0180xx_update.exe (1gb)

But what i and a lot of people do is, When an expansion comes out just uninstall all of it and reinstall in order. So much less of a hassle.

patch downloader didn't work

Yeah I was thinking I might have to reinstall everything but owning every single expansion pack and stuff pack and mostly digital copies, it takes so long to download :(

Why do you own every stuff pack! That stuff is 95% junk, Not only that but showtime is pretty worthless as is world adventures (Although it was cool for a bit..) I would have pets but the pet noises creep me out.

I own them all because they're only like £10-20 on Gamefanshop.com and I have a horrible, horrible habit of collecting every sims game ever. Sims 1 collection, Sims 2 collection, Castaway, Medieval etc etc. Except the Simcity games, but I plan to change that. The pet noises creep me out too, so I just got a mod that changes the sounds to actual animal sounds. Plus I don't really find showtime worthless since I spend a lot of my time building houses and I really love some of the furniture included with Showtime and World Adventures. Stuff packs are admittedly pretty stupid seeing as most of them have really stuffty stuff but.. OH I CAN'T HELP IT. IT'S A DISEASE I TELL YOU, A DISEASE.

But anyway now what, I re-installed everything in order, I got rid of all my mods and even all my saves and it still won't update. Then it tells me I can't play Supernatural without updating. I really just want to play the damn game :(

Maybe try changing skuversion.txt in the sims 3 folder to have GameVersion = 1.38.151.018002 ?
(Apparently that's not the newest version, But that's what i'm on and it works.)

And did you try out the super patch?
